About---Brown County Foundation

The Brown County Foundation (BCF) was founded in 1996 and has enjoyed continual growth.   The BCF formed under the umbrella of the Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF).   This means, the NCF has the responsibility of all accounting matters such as proper IRS filing, quarterly reconciling with the local foundation, annual auditing, legal fees and maintaining the tax exempt 501 (c) (3) status.   Being affiliated with NCF also entitles the BCF to investment counseling from NCF's investment manager.

BCF chose to be part of the NCF because of the assistance they provide and the emphasis they put on local control of all funds.   All decisions are made at the local level providing they fall within the regulations of the IRS code.   Funds can be invested fully or partially in local financial institutions.   In addition, NCF provides marketing and promotional assistance.
