Tom Gallaway, native of Bassett and owner of Technologent, has chosen to expand his business into rural Nebraska. Technologent, who specializes in enterprise systems, storage solutions, data management and e-business infrastructure, is based in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. with additional offices in Houston and Dallas. Technologent's website can be accessed at www.technologent.com . The employees of the Ainsworth office will be responsible for renegotiating service contracts with existing clients of Technologent. Employment is expected to reach 70.

The economic impact of a business expansion of this magnitude is endless. Although Ainsworth will logically receive the largest impact, many employees will commute from neighboring communities and will take their income home with them to spend at their local businesses making the economic impact reach far beyond the city limits of Ainsworth. This is what we strive for in regional economic development. Julie Younkin, vice president of the North Central Development Center, will manage the Technologent call center and has played a key role assisting Technologent with the expansion. In her words, "This is a homerun for the whole region."

The NCDC assists Northeast Community College in coordinating and providing a facility for adult continuing education classes and meetings of non-profit groups. It promotes the use of technology as a tool to reach urban markets. The NCDC facility provides a central office for tourism information with the responsibility to receive and respond to all inquiries by phone, mail, or email. It also houses the tourism display and the Chamber of Commerce promotional items.
