1993

•  Adopted name North Central Development Center

•  Hired first director

•  First office located at Union Bank

•  Received CDBG grant for facility purchase and operation

1994

•  Technology Committee formed

•  Tri-county Tourism grant request approved

•  Solid Waste committee formed

•  Announced opening of Technology Center

•  Housed Community Builder Regional Coordinator/Facilitator

•  Technology Center Open House made front page of Wall Street Journal

•  NCIP 1 st place award to Technology Center

•  Became involved School Improvement Committee

•  Brown County Foundation was formed

•  Cowboy Trail committee formed

1995

•  Pioneer Project (Technology) grant received

•  KBR Solid Waste received recycling grant from DEQ

•  Computer Community Bulletin Board launched

•  Hosted Technology Fair

•  Began hosting Vocational Rehabilitation coordinator

1996

•  Launched NPPD Brown County Web Site

•  Began work on the Sand Hills Discovery Center

•  First K-BAR Bike Ride

•  KBR Solid Waste received grant from DEQ for coordinator position and three recycling trailers

•  Grant from State Tourism funded Quint County Tourism brochure

•  Adopted "Middle of Nowhere" for marketing

•  Began working on Long Pine water project (Seven Springs)

•  NCIP award to KBR Solid Waste for Environmental Awareness

1997

•  Contributed in forming the "Nebraska Outback"

•  Received USDA Technology grant partnering with North Central RC&D

•  Began working on Tri-County local telephone access

•  LB 144 grant received and North Central Business Association was formed, later named North Central Opportunity Association

•  Hosted Elderhostal

•  Committee formed to develop assisted living

•  Direct access to the Internet was installed in Executive Director's office

1998

•  Received State Tourism grant for World Horseshoe Tournament

•  Received grant for KBR Solid Waste for operating and a facility addition

•  Began working with Long Pine Continuing Education Center group

•  Ainsworth received Outstanding Event award at the Nebraska Travel and Tourism Conference

•  Became involved in Odyssey of the Mind program

1999

•  Ainsworth Vitalization Committee was formed

•  Nebraska Rural Development Commission recognized Ainsworth as one of Nebraska's Top 10 Rural Development Initiatives for 1998

•  Made display and visited communities with the School/Community Revitalization Committee Showcase

2000

•  Hosted Nebraska Active Counties in Tourism (N-ACT) Annual Conference

•  North Central Nebraska Workforce Partnership formed

•  Advantage Receivables received Nebraska Development Network "Connecting Award"

•  Helped facilitate Dollar General employment

•  Sand Hills Discovery and Visitor Center created Mission Statement

•  "Come Back to the Outback" employment search began

2001

•  Held Myers-Briggs workshop

•  Began listing employment opportunities on Nebraska Outback web site

•  Activated toll free phone number

•  Performed Strategic Planning Session assisted by NPPD

•  Activated Community Profile on NPPD web site

2002

•  Coordinated development of county flags for Brown, Keya Paha and Rock counties

•  Worked with Three River Telco to bring high-speed Internet into Ainsworth

•  Received grant from State Tourism to promote the first Sand Hills Discovery Experience

•  Successfully recruited Bomgaars to fill former Country General facility

•  Coordinated information for the first Sand Hills Discovery Experience

•  Began working with outreach effort of North Central Quad Counties Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services

•  Began development of a new website www.ainsworthlinks.com
